Next 2 numbers go up by 0
Then next 2 numbers go up by 3
So the next 2 numbers go up by 6 - 13 & 19

Actually, the answer (according to the answers shared here on the forum)is supposed to be 28, but why????

I think it is:

Total of previous numbers; then total of previous numbers minus one; then total of previous numbers plus one; repeat.

So total of 1=1.
1+1-1=1
1+1+1+1=4
1+1+1+4=7
1+1+1+4+7-1=13
1+1+1+4+7+13+1=28

Fiendish though.

5 are blue and 5 red.
8 are felt tip pens


Fill in the blanks in this statement


There are between _________ and ___________ blue felt tip pens

What's the least blue felt tips? It will be when all the red are felt tips ..

Hi All

Could someone please help with this


Question
I bought a packet of fruit gums and ate 2 of them, secretly , in my Music lesson.
At break , I shared one third of the remaining fruit gums with my friends, I then finished the fruit gums, eating an equal amount in each of the next four lessons.
What is the smallest number of fruit gums there could have been in the packet?


here's my approach and I think not correct. then I get stuck?

packet of fruit gum = x no of fruit gums
(x-2) =remaining fruit gums
(x-2)/3 = number shared

After sharing with a friend, I'm left with 2(x-2) / 3 of the sweets

I then have a quarter of the remaining amount in each of the next 4 lessons, so I have 2(x-2) / (3x4), or (x-2) / 6 in each lesson.

The smallest number of sweets I ate in each of the last 4 lessons is 1, so the smallest value for x must be 8.
