If algebra is in the year 6 curriculum as an "average" expectation, then might we expect to see more algebra cropping up in 11 plus exams if more is expected of above average children at the end of year 5? Do gl assessment and c e m and the admission authorities that procure tests from them think this way?

I was told by a parent whose child sat and passed, that the 2013 first CEM in bucks had a section with Alegbra. I'm only reporting what I was told. Dollyx

Algebraic expressions are in Year 6 but not equations.

Some of the GL questions are similar to the following
If 9x + 6 = 4x + 16
What is x?
and
x is 1/4 of y
Which of the following is incorrect?
y = 4x
y/x = 1/4
etc
