Hi everyone, we came across Long Math questions in Bond 11+ CEM multiple choice test papers. Found the questions and amount of time given is very challenging and wondering if anyone else had a view? Test paper has given a minute per question totalling 18 minutes for 18. Is this likely to be the expected level in CEM exams?

Test papers are a nightmare  There are always more questions on papers than is possible to answer in the time frame given. If everyone could answer every question = nightmare scenario. Most parents encourage DCs to answer questions that are not time-consuming, then if time permits, go back and answer those questions or guess an answer on the answer sheet. Do not leave it blank. A guess could be a correct answer, a blank is definitely wrong.

Good Luck.

Thank you cauzin. Totally agree with your points. Have you actually seen this test papers and long maths questions? I believe many of of them are far above the KS2 levels. I am not sure if this is where the preparation should be expected to be at.

I don't think they are far above KS2 level in terms of the underlying concepts involved. DS did them last year. They are presented sometimes in a long-winded, confusing and round-about fashion. Or there are too many steps. My DC spent extra time trying to figure out what to do. As has already been said, there is too much in terms of the operations, complexity and numbers. With practice, it is possible to get better but very very hard to get a high score.
