Any idea on number 20 I got the answer 3 but not sure. The question is how many different 3 digit numbers can you make from digits 1,1,3. You can use each digit as many times as you like.

Re: Merchant Taylor's question 20 specimen paper
Think systematically when tackling this type of question:
111 [three 1s]
113 [two 1s, one 3]
131
311
133 [one 1, two 3s]
313
331
333 [three 3s]
111 [three 1s]
113 [two 1s, one 3]
131
311
133 [one 1, two 3s]
313
331
333 [three 3s]

Re: Merchant Taylor's question 20 specimen paper
I think the question is badly worded. Why repeat the 1?
Re: Merchant Taylor's question 20 specimen paper
I don't agree - I think the wording is deliberately testing them to read what it says.
