Re: Decimals Question
I you ever you divides by zero ...... that way lies contradiction and absurdity.
Whenever you're equations start to generate infinities you are at singularity ( big bang-black holes) no theory or mathematics can make sense of it .
My maths is correct !
The assumption is where the fallacy lies.
btw, I never divide by zero you could set it to zero but that's a different matter !

Re: Decimals Question
You started off saying a = b.
Therefore (a - b) must be zero, so you can't divide by it, otherwise you'll get a big old black hole, as you say...

Re: Decimals Question
Correct the the assumption is the fallacy but why?

Excellent deduction, spot on.Catseye wrote:Correct the the assumption is the fallacy but why?
But there is more a general rule when trying use variables to formulate proof or theorems .
Different type of methods of proof are required .
