17.6/1.8
multiply numerator and denominator by 10
176/18 = 88/9 is that easier?

May I please ask help with another one ?
Feels like a really long division and again struggling to provide an easy way...

98 out of 368 students like football. The rest like rugby. What percent like rugby ?

So, we got 270 like rugby; hence 270/368 x 100 will give us the percentage and this is a very long division even if it is simplified to 135/184 x100

Options

74.28
73.26
73.58
73.37
73.31

A bit unkind ...
13500/184 = 3375/46 ... I'd probably divide by 2 again to get 1687.5/23 [23 is slightly easier to work with as its near 25 or use 46 as its near 50]

We know that 23 goes into 1687.5 70 times plus remainder ... so that cuts down the work a bit.

Thanks again Guest 55

So agree about the sum being 'unkind' :(
