In a game wizard is twice as powerful as an elf,an elf is 5 time as powerful as a trall,and a troll is one and half times as powerful as a dwarf. How many times more powerful than adwarf is a wizard?

In the meantime, just work backwards through the values

The only way I can approach these things is by giving each item a value.

Eg, make wizard 60. What would that make elf? And so on.

How about the following

W = 2E

E = 5T

T = 1.5D

So W = 2 * 5 * 1.5 D
= 15 D

Wizard is 15 times more powerful than dwarf

Like Toadmum said, easiest to work backwards and start with the dwarf.

So D = 1
T = 1.5 etc.

Algebra is not needed here - it's easiest to work backwards with numbers from a dwarf.

I'm glad that my suggestion turned out to be your way this time . Although momentarily having forgotten that a dwarf was part of the question I wondered why one would have to find one to get numbers from it
