Still not really explained and PLEASE avoid teaching this to any child.

As G55 and I have said, providing the formula really doesn’t help.
The trial and improvement approach in primary really makes them have a feel for what is going on.
I hope that , by not just feeding a formula, we are really working towards raising mathematicians, rather than people who can do a page of sums.
