Fraction question help

Hello,
Would appreciate some help with these 2 fraction
questions please.
From Schofield &Sims practice book, I don't have the answers.
1) A machine makes 10 nails from a piece of metal weighing 9g. What is the weight of each nail as a fraction of a gram?
Is it simply taking 9g divided by 10? Or is there more to this?
2) dad poured 3litres of lemonade equally into 10 cups.
How much is there in each cup? Give your answer as a fraction of a litre.
Again, is this simply 3litres divided by 10 = 3/10?

Yes, you're correct, it is as simple as you think.
Its worth remembering that the things we call "fractions" really are just one number divided by another. That's what the "/" symbol means.
"A half" is written as "1/2" because its just "one divided by two". etc.
Once children (and adults) understand this fractions tend to make much more sense IMO.

Thank you both!
Question 1 threw me off abit as at first, my thought process was to take 1/10 (each nail) and multiply by 9g ( as the question said 'as a fraction of a gram').
Both processes ( the above) and simply taking 9g divided by 10, gave me the same answer.
Does that mean I can solve it both ways ( ie. The rational behind the process is correct? And I did not happen to end up with same answers both ways by fluke!?)

Yes its just two slightly different ways of thinking about the same thing and wasn't a fluke!
1/10 x 9 = 9/10 = 9 divided by 10
