has anyone got the paper handy?

Question 48.

The answer given is 2x +2y

WE make it 2y+x+z.

Any ideas?

2x + 2y is correct

If you look carefully all the horizontal 'bits' of the step make x and ditto the vertical 'treads' of the steps make y.
