Non-calculator Qu

Post by Bewildered »

Came across following question, on GCSE Non-calculator.
at first glance it lookd do-able, but then it wasn't. :(

Surface area of a cube is 60cm(sq).
What is the volume?

Got to 10cm(sq).. for one side, but without a calculator I'd think it was pretty difficult to get the sq root of 10.

Any advise wecome...

Maybe a different approach?

Are you sure they haven't told you to leave it as surd? ie. Volume = 10 square root sign 10. They often do this.

It's ok, spoke to Maths teacher who advised it was a misprint should of read 600cm(sq). Which of course makes sense. :D
