How's this for chicanery?
A report in our local paper yesterday outlined proposals for Lincs County Council to fund 6th form places at the above for students getting 5B's or better at GCSE. Local people will remember the long campaign fought to abolish the county funding (at tax payers expense) of 50 places at the school per year. That finishes in a couple of years but this is obviously a back door way in to continuing it post 16.Those people will be seething this morning I'm sure and how will those parents feel who often struggle to meet fees to keep their kids at the school.I'll bet they'll not be eligible for the free places.
An informed source tells me that it will cost about £10k per year per student- this is surely very poor value for the tax payer when a state 6th form is about half that. There are a number of excellent 6th forms close by at Bourne Grammar,Robert Manning and The Deepings.Even with funded transport costs these would still be better value. The whole thing smacks of a "nice little earner".As a Lincolnshire tax payer I am furious and I'm sure many Endowed parents will be aswell.
