? advice/help
Would the forum be able to advise me.
DD sat Grammar school enterance exams but didn't get a place, no point appealing on this I am aware.
Have been given last choice on admission form as 115 meters away from last point of entry from better comp.
Allocations officer has said to appeal.
But what grounds would a successful appeal be made.
At the end of a horrible journey..... need help but unsure if you are able to or could advise
Thank you

Hi,
Have answered your post on appeals. You are so close to having got into the preferred comprehensive that it is quite possible that a place may come up as there generally is some movement after allocations. Do you know where you are on the reserve list? However, it would definitely be advisable to appeal for it as well because if the list does not move far enough down before appeals are heard you could end up in a worse position.
There is huge variation in the rate of success for appeals so much depends on the specific school.
Can you choose which area of the forum to write on then it will be easier to get all the info and advice from people in one place.

Here in Lincolnshire 115m further than the last place would be very close! But we are a big rural county where some people may even live nigh on 10 miles from their nearest secondary school - You will probably get much better and more relevant advice if you post in your own local section and if you can be a bit more specific about the school you want. There is so much variation in how much movement down the lists there is and in the chances of winning an appeal.
If you also telephone the school they may be able to tell you how many people are ahead of you on the reserve or waiting list (these must be in operation until the end of the first term of the new school year) or alternatively try the Admissions team in your home LA (or in the LA where the school is if they are different).
Wishing you all the best.
