King's School, Peterborough. Yes I know it's not Lincs but .

I hope you don't mind the out of area post but earlier on today I posted the text below in the 'Independent' section and then I thought that the Lincs forum readers might be able to help me as well.

Does anyone know anything about the King's School, Peterborough, its entrance exams and how it compares to Grammar Schools in Lincs or Private schools in the Northants, Cambs and Lincs area?

I see from their website that they admit 10 children from a written exam and 3 from musical ability, with others entering from religious or brother/sister grounds.

We live in Peterborough and are thinking of places for our two girls, 7 and 8, so I realise we've still got a while to go but I thought we'd start trying to find out some more about the school if we could.

From talking to some of the parents at the primary school King's is held in high regard, however, I'm trying to find out if there is anyone else out there that has any info.

I tried a search on here but only found one post from a while ago and it didn't mention the 10 academic places or 3 musical places at all.

I believe people considering Bourne or Spalding grammar schools also put King's on their 'wish-list' so perhaps someone on here may have some thoughts.

Thanks for reading,

Rgds

It's a great school - I went there for sixth form.
Given that it does not select on 11+ criteria, its results are outstanding.

I would imagine the standard needed is higher due purely on the number of places.
The next criteria is church attendance/involvement - maybe you could consider 'god' and a bit of church cleaning - you wouldn't be the first!!

I also recall they are starting a junior admission - not sure when but I read an article in local paper when visiting my parents who still live there.

Speaking as a Mum in Notts whose son goes to Grantham - do not underestimate travel times. He spends a long while on a bus that is usually late and I end up travelling to and fro for Latin, Rugby, general socialising. My second has just taken the 11+ and the thought of double trips fills me full of dread!

good luck trying to get into this schoool. my brother tried to get his son into this school-regular church goer and plays the piano (i dont think up to a high standard though), and they didn't get him in.lives just 3 miles from school.
also a boy who went to my daughter's school , his family are church goers every week and he is an alter boy and plays 3 instruments to a very good standard-still didn't get in!!
if you are adamant he goes there, then try to get him in to cathedral choir!!-a dead cert!!

Hi PboroParents,

I have just found this site and this forum. My girl is 9 this year, she is in year 4 and will be in year 5 next Sep.

I wish she can get a place in the King's School, it is the only grammar school in Peterborough. I understand all parents who care about children's education will stress and panic of 11+. I am one of them!

Hope you have found out the information of the King's School. Maybe we can start the 11+ campaign together?
