Queen Elizabeth High School, Gainsborough

Figures are for Year of entry to Year 7 so e.g. 2005 refers to those who tool the tests in 2004

2005 entry
Tested: 584
Qualified: 214
Offered: 183 ( 2 clerical errors by LA and 1 successful appeal)
Breakdown of offers:
siblings: 64
ease of access: 119 of which 59 DTA and 33 distance
reserve list: 33

2006 entry
Tested: 528
Qualified: 199
Offered: 178
Breakdown of offers:
siblings: 49
ease of access: 129 of which 47 DTA and 82 distance

2007 entry
Tested: 646
Qualified: 251

Breakdown of offers:
siblings: 57
ease of access: 126 of which 96 DTA and 30 distance
reserve list: 38

For the 3 years quoted above the admission policy was slightly different to that which applies in subsequent years. Priority used to be given under "ease of access" to those living in the Designated Transport Area before actual distance from home to school but Lincolnshire changed to use distance from home to school alone after a challenge to the Schools Adjudicator over another school (contravening Greewich judgement).

I know that the following have already been posted but thought I would repost to put it all in one place.

2008 entry
Tested: 586
Qualified: 238
Offered: 180
Breakdown of offers:
siblings: 53
distance: 127 (13.7 miles)
reserve list: 34
2 successful appeals

2009 entry
Tested: 584
Qualified: 241
Offered: 180
Breakdown of offers:
Statements of SEN: 2
siblings: 48
distance: 130 (12.8 miles)
reserve list: 38
4 successful appeals

2010 entry
Tested: 516
Qualified: 224
Offered: 180
Breakdown of offers:
Statement of SEN: 1
siblings: 47
distance: 132 (13.8 miles)
reserve list: 25
2 successful appeals

and I have gone and mislaid 2011 entry data  - will amend post later....

Thanks Alex, I didn't know the distance for 2008. So that now makes it 3 out of the last 4 years we'd have got in at 13.1 miles. Hoping the bad year was a one off blip as more children passed that year than usual.

Good Luck Binka
Regarding the gcse pass rate figures, you have to take them with a pinch of salt a bit. The majority of the top performing students will have gone to the grammar school, so the figures can't be compared equally.

That's very true, and we did like the other school when we went and looked round it. Dd is lazy though and I'm worried she might float along if not stretched. Whereas if everyone else is working hard she will be eager to keep up, try and beat her friends in tests, etc.

Some more statistics for QEHS Gainsborough for those of you who are interested. The figures are about a year old.

47.3 of the pupils were from out of county addresses.

The capacity range at the last assessment was 1161-1290
IAA: 180
PAN:180

There was 2% "turbulence" (i.e. percentage of the total pupils leaving or joining the school during the previous school year)
