Score needed for King's Grantham

I am very new to all of this and wondered if anyone can offer some clarity.
My boy heard today that he had passed his 11+ , he needed 220 and got a score of 250. Good news I thought but of course he still doesn't know if he will get a place as this might be too low. The Max was 286 after all and with grade inflation maybe everyone get 286? Does anyone have any idea if he stands a chance of getting in?
Any thoughts gratefully received.

Am sure that the cut off for offers of places over the last few years has been between 220 and 230 - though am sure someone can tell us exactly.

Thanks for the speedy reply. If what you write can be verified things are looking up for my boy! All day I have been pleased he passed but concerned that his score was low.

Also Belvoir that isn't a raw score as such, so no, they won't all be able to get 250. Well done to your DC!

Many thanks HermanMunster those links are encouraging.
To Our Man in Havana thanks for taking the time to reply and please excuse my ignorance but what does a "a raw score" mean?

No problem, basically the raw means that the score hasn't been standardised. It's difficult to explain and I don't want to mislead you, but I think I'm right ?? in saying that the 250 is more a centile measured against the rest of the cohort. It's a good score!! Enjoy!!

WOW! Standardised, centile.
Modern education is an opaque mystery, learning is so much easier!
I raise a glass to Our Man in Havana.
Thanks
