I am new to all of this and wondered if someone could answer a couple of queries.
What isthe average percentage of children that pass the Lincs 11+.

My daughter is about 8/30 (august born) in her class. She got level 3 for reading/listening, science and 2a for maths and writing(left hander with legibility issues!) in her KS1 SATS. She is just starting to ask about the 11+ and Im not sure whether to dismiss the idea or if she would cope at our local grammar.

I think you have plenty of time to think about this. My daughters Head teacher suggested Level 5's in Year 4 Sats for the kids to be comfortable with the work once they got there.

However there were a few kids who was below this and got places. They did all get tutoring though. The year before there was one kid from another school who had been tutored for years, just got in and left to go to Comp after 6 months.

You will know yourself if your child is suitable or not. I wish you luck, but remember some kids do just as well at a Comp. You may like to think about Scholarships for Independent Schools as well especially if child is good at sport and music, it's not all about Maths, NVR and VR.

We spent hours and hours after daughter was offered places at Grammar and Independent. She chose herself after going to every open night. She chose the one she was most happy with. I am in the Louth area of Lincolnshire, if I can be any more help just yell!

Different part of the country but ....

My son (July born) got Level 3 for Maths, science & reading, level 2a for writing at KS1 (another left hander with legibility problems), scraped a 5 at KS2 SATS ( Y6 ) in English but seems to be enjoying grammar and keeping up..... He still finds English hard.....and some of the essay type questions in History ....but is doing very well in the Maths / sciences.
Talking to the teachers on an Open day we were told that most Y7's came into the school with 3 x 5's or 2 x 5 & 1 high 4 from their KS2 Sats.
If at the end of Y5 your child is on course for these results then I think it is something to consider.
