I know someone whose child didn't pass the 11+ and apparently they'll be re-taking it next year - so I assume that means taking a 12+ exam. I don't know any more than that though.Clairenatalie74 wrote:Hiya!

Then that year 7 would be going into Year 8 with number of 150 which would be full unless some drop outs ?Ellarootoo wrote:I know someone whose child didn't pass the 11+ and apparently they'll be re-taking it next year - so I assume that means taking a 12+ exam. Yes, that's the plan. I'm only guessing it will be via a 12+ exam, but I do know the idea is that some children will inevitably move out of the area, as they do in any school, and therefore there should be places available to enter Year 8. There are health reasons why this child didn't pass the 11+ so he should still have a chance at passing a 12+ exam, assuming that's what his parents meant when they told me he was re-sitting in 2018.Rhinoguy wrote:Then that year 7 would be going into Year 8 with number of 150 which would be full unless some drop outs ?Ellarootoo wrote:I know someone whose child didn't pass the 11+ and apparently they'll be re-taking it next year - so I assume that means taking a 12+ exam. As Amber points out, you can apply for in-year admission (whether there are places available or not).Amber wrote:If it doesn't, you can apply for in-year admission. Schools don't close their doors once the year 7s are admitted.
3.15 If a panel has to consider an appeal for an in-year applicant where no assessment has taken place, it must follow the process in paragraph 3.13(a) .......
3.13 a) ........ the panel must only uphold the appeal if it is satisfied:
i) that there is evidence to demonstrate that the child is of the required academic standards, for example, school reports giving Year 5/Year 6 SAT results or a letter of support from their current or previous school clearly indicating why the child is considered to be of grammar school ability; and
ii) where applicable, that the appellant’s arguments outweigh the admission authority’s case that admission of additional children would cause prejudice.
Yes it does, several children have transferred this year (Horncastle)in year 8 after passing the 12 plusClairenatalie74 wrote:Hiya!
