How do these tests work? Anyone know?

Post by lavpaige »

My daughter sits her test next month, she needs to get 75% to pass, is this each paper? Or the two put together?

Also how are these scores calculated? She needs to get 120 on each paper?

Have a read of the information about the tests in Lincolnshire at the top of the webpage and about how standardised scoring works

https://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/schoo ... re-11-plus" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

https://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/advic ... xplanation" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You might also find the Lincs Grammar School Consortium's site helpful:

http://grammarschools.lincs.sch.uk/home/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The requirement is to score a standardised score of 220 over the two tests - there is no requirement to reach a particular score on any one of the tests. The 75% is a very rough estimate of what people usually reckon to be the sort of raw score needed to reach the qualifying mark, but it is just that - a rough estimate - the actual mark will vary from year to year and from child to child because of age standardisation as well.

You also need to look at the Admissions policies for the schools you may wish to apply for - some require only a basic qualifying score and allocate places on distance; others have inner and outer areas with a higher score needed if you are not within the inner area; others allocate on score alone.
