Can anyone answer my question about how important spelling is in the marking of the 11+ papers please?

I get that you need to have a modicum of skill, but DD does have a tendency to really go astray.

Does anyone have any ideas if you are marked down in the Medway test for poor spelling?

Hi Hoot sorry for the belated reply. I would say don't worry too much about spelling. The structure of the essay or letter is very important. The use of things like simile, metaphors, speech marks etc, I would say is more important. Grammar is also key, for instance reported speech if the child is writing a newspaper article.
It's important that the child can spell but I don't think they will judged too harshly on account of misspelling. I'm sure someone on here might shed some more light hopefully.
