First time for us, although have DS2 to follow on but not for another 5 years (I might just be ready to face it again by then!). We're in a bit of a black hole school-wise, the only really viable non-selective alternative isn't great, so we're crossing everything and hoping for the best...

Comps round our way not great either, but as we are Kent need a good score for RGS and just not sure whether that's possible...

I've got the most hectic afternoon ever so should be able to take my mind off it!

Same here. We are in Kent and hoping for a high mark in Medway. Does anyone know how we find out the cut off mark for RGS? There website just says they offer in order of highest score. Thanks.

From friends with older daughters, you don't know the cut off until places are offered in March as it obviously depends on how many apply and how high their scores are. Historically it's been about 10-15 above the Medway pass mark, but last year it went really high (if I remember rightly pass mark was 513, RGS cut off was something like 546 - I know I've seen it on posts here from early March). My understanding is RGS is a gamble, but if your DD has a score comfortably above the pass mark, there's a decent chance. Not much help in reality though, sorry!

Good luck - everyone I know who's had DDs go there is really happy

The score required for RGS will only be known in March, when allocations are released.
