For 2021/22 the figures were
CH to 388, NHGS to 439

Page 50 and 51.
This is the lowest rank offered on 1st March and will go lower over the summer and into the autumn term.

2020
The last rank allocated for Crossley Heath was 435 and NHGS is 441.

Have they increased the number of places over the period of time ? or lots of high rankers not taking admission in Halifax Grammars? The lowest rank in till 2016 was upto 390 but now its gone as high upto 440's.

Any possible reason for this?

I know that the number of places increased from 130 to 180 at some point, but I'm not sure when.

I think it is because there is a percentage of students who sit the exam from 'out of area' such as Manchester, South Yorkshire, and even further. As the Halifax schools have no catchment area they take these exams as a back up if they don't get into their 'local' grammar school. They pass for their nearest school so don't take the Halifax school offer, hence they get further down the list when making offers.

It is reflected in the increase in the number of students who sit the exam.

Several factors. Increase in PAN, introduction of PP places and possibly more people using a scattergun approach sitting multiple exams.
