Anyone else needs to live over 8.8 miles lol xMajik wrote:Absolutely. I think on your side you'll find North Halifax and Crossley Heath candidates trying their luck and also people with Bradford and Leeds Grammar schools in mind.
On our side we have highly reputable schools like Stoneyhurst, QEGS, Westholme and Kirkham Grammar. Like I said there's the bursaries and sibling discounts that these schools give. So there's a lot of potential for movement on the list on both sides of the border.
I hope we both get what we want.

Skipton Girls' tested on the same day as the Lancs grammars as they're all in a consortium using the same tests.Majik wrote: Also the advantage you guys have is that the schools in Yorkshire have done their 11+ exams on different dates. Whereas Lancashire decided that Clitheroe, Bacup and Lancaster all did the 11+ on the same day. So we have limited choice from the outset.

But surely if you are "ill" on the day you can get another sitting so can you not get another sitting date for these? If its the same test then this surely is not practical?andy from embsay wrote:Skipton Girls' tested on the same day as the Lancs grammars as they're all in a consortium using the same tests.Majik wrote: Also the advantage you guys have is that the schools in Yorkshire have done their 11+ exams on different dates. Don't know about what they do with those who are too ill to attend - I wonder if they have a separate paper, as there must be twenty or thirty each year.janet71 wrote:But surely if you are "ill" on the day you can get another sitting so can you not get another sitting date for these? Did you have the option to indicate which schools you were interested in within the consortium?andy from embsay wrote:Skipton Girls' tested on the same day as the Lancs grammars as they're all in a consortium using the same tests.Majik wrote: Also the advantage you guys have is that the schools in Yorkshire have done their 11+ exams on different dates. No, each school just ran its own tests using the same papers (which were marked in school), afaik - certainly wasn't asked at Skipton, but then again we wouldn't want to send our kids too far so Clitheroe etc weren't an option.hermanmunster wrote:Did you have the option to indicate which schools you were interested in within the consortium?andy from embsay wrote:Skipton Girls' tested on the same day as the Lancs grammars as they're all in a consortium using the same tests.Majik wrote: Also the advantage you guys have is that the schools in Yorkshire have done their 11+ exams on different dates. was just thinking about those half way between who sometimes have a go at both - wonder if the results were valid for both?

Gosh yes - i'm surprised it's not come up on here, actually - if you live somewhere lie Gisburn or Barlick both are reasonable commutes, and they'd have to do the test on the same day - and of course you could have another skipton/ripon situation with different pass marks.
Re: Did anyone from Lancashire region take the EGS test
Didn't realise Skipton girls did it on the same day as EGS do it on a different day. But your right both are within reasonable commuting distance if you live somewhere like Gisburn.

This is only if one was in the morning and the other the afternoon? How long was each sitting?hermanmunster wrote:was just thinking about those half way between who sometimes have a go at both - wonder if the results were valid for both?
