Haniya - My DS did not do any specific tutoring for the Heck exam. He had some support for the NVR from his school but it was something that he 'just got'. The only thing I did was spend a little time explaining the different format and the rest was up to him. He only did the GL style mock as this is our preferred choice but I did recognise that the format of the Heck was probably more suited to his strengths.

If your child has a good understanding of Maths and English and has an aptitude for NVR (I was rubbish at it, my DS had to explain to me his answers), then I dont see why you cant sit both exams.

He only did a mock for the GL test (in Halifax).

I'm pleased to say that we got confirmation that he secured a high enough mark to be guaranteed a place for Heck. It's not our first choice, (purely because of distance as we loved the school), so we are still waiting on the Halifax results before making a decision. Although I have to say it does take the stress away somewhat!

I assume you are planning for 2019 sitting of the exam from your messages?

still could achieve 89.9% in NHGS fact is she was panicking a lot on the day

DD2 is struggling with VR and creative writing
her maths and NVR is not something am worried about
