How many 2017 entrants received Pupil Premium?

Post by mum-of-two »

Just wondering if anyone has asked for a Data Access request from Crossley/North Halifax. Under the current admissions criteria those who reach the 'required standard' (ie the top 500 scorers) are then rearranged with those receiving PP getting priority over those without. I know looked after children top this but assume this is pretty low compared to the potential PP pupils.

Just wondered what percentage were PP students? No good getting 350 (and no PP) in the rankings if over 10 PP pupils who scored lower leapfrog the list.

(Assuming I have read the admissions criteria properly)!

Think I've found (part of) the answer to my own question.

There were 48 pupils at Crossley in 16/17 receiving PP across yrs 7-11 so roughly 10 per year!

Assuming similar for this years entrants that's about 20 for both schools. Only a rough calculation but MUCH lower than I anticipated!

Anyway might be interesting for other members to know.

I think it is mainly children who have had FSM at any time in the last 6 years or been looked after etc

I've seen schools approach PP in 2 ways:

1. Rank by score and then PP.

2. Rank by PP and then by score.

The first method wouldn't skew the cohort in favour of PP by much (in fact would only affect the last few places) whereas the second would. The size of the waiting list the school wants will also play a part. Definitely read the 'small print' for the school(s) in question.

Only 39 pupils in the whole school were eligable for PP.
