Skipton Grammer for boys
Has anyone any knowlege of the 11+ exams at this school? My Lad is taking it in october over 3 days and i'd like as much info as possible...
Also anyone know of old papers i can get?

Hi Wendy,
My daughter took the test for SGHS last year and is due to start in Sept this year.
Last year(Oct and Nov) the tests for out of area pupils were arranged by North Yorkshire County Council and held at Rendevous hotel in Skipton.
Both the girls(SGHS) and boys for Ermysteds sat the same tests together.
Both tests consisted of Nfer Verbal and Non Verbal tests(multiple choice format), also there was a practice test about a week before the first of the two tests.
Are you in area? If so your child will take the tests at his current primary school, unless you opt out of selection.
For more info contact Craven Education, Skipton. As you must apply before a certain date for out of area(last year it was late September I think)

Hi, yes we are just out of the area now but moving that way in about 18mth as hubby job is that way. (can't afford till i get back on my feet and back to work)
How did you daughter fing the exams? I got Connor to do a nv test last night and he did really well with all but the code ones. So lots of practising!
I've been in touch wth education office who have said wait a couple of weeks to send in letter as they are waiting for booklets. We have been told about admissions evening in July. Did yo attend? Was it helpful?
Did your daughter do lots of practise papers? I've ordered some more.At least the hols are so long this year in pendle Connor will have lots of time to practise before school starts in september again. (9wks!!!).
Any help/tips yopu can give me appreciated. Tried to find local specialised Tutor but no luck so far...
