Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can PM me a recommendation for a tutor for the Trafford area please. I'll look at the combined exam for the consortium of grammars and also Loreto. Daughter is currently Yr.4 hope I haven't left this too late to get the best tutors for next year....

Thanks in advance.

We try to keep the forum as safe as possible - we don't allow tutors to be openly recommended, because it attracts posts with fake recommendations ('dodgy' advertising solely designed to solicit business on the internet).
It is also not unknown for unscrupulous competitors to 'plant' posts seeking to denigrate the opposition!

Genuine recommendations from forum members by PM only (private message) are permitted - but be aware of the possibility that someone who appears to be a 'helpful parent' offering advice may not be all they seem! There could be an ulterior motive.

Always treat recommendations from unknown persons with great caution.
However, we have many long standing members (check carefully the date of joining and number of posts) who make a very valuable contribution to the forum. If you receive a private recommendation from one of them, it could be worth considering.

Please let us know if you think anyone is abusing the system by soliciting for business or 'spamming'.
It's easy to report a possible problem - just click on the red exclamation mark that appears with every post and PM: Image

TBH, If you can work yourself with your Kids that give him/her proper tutoring. I teach myself to my eldest Son and he got more than 90% in AGSB and same in Trafford Consortium test for all other 3 grammar schools. He is going to AGSB. We lived in Stretford so not in Catchment Area of other than Stratford Grammer but he got easily place in AGSB.

I have 3 some, My second son gave test this September and got 355 in AGSB test and 373 in Trafford Consortium test. He got this without any professional tutoring. I just work with him a few hours in a week. I hope he will get the place in AGSB too. If not my second preference is Sale Grammer.

My youngest one in Y5 now and I am working with him these days. I think I have enough experience to preparing kids for 11 plus so might start part-time tutoring for the weekend

I will recommend all to work with your kids yourself. Good Luck

Does the exam provider give you your DCs' raw scores as well as the standardised score? Some, like our local consortium, do, so you can see what mark out of 60 on each paper equated to the overall standardised score achieved, but if all you have is a standardised score, you have no way of knowing whether a given standardised score equates to a raw score of 90% or 50%, or any %.

Trafford only give you standardised scores so there is no way of knowing the percentages achieved.
