Tutor In Trafford or South Manchester areas please
Hi all
Please could anyone provide information regarding any tutors they have used or recommend in the Trafford or South Manchester areas.
Considering applying to Altrincham Grammar for Boys and Sale Grammar so any tutors who have experience of coaching for entry into either or any advice that anyone would have with regards to entry into the above schools would be gratefully received.
I am new to this website. I have found the information on here useful and have decided we'll need a tutor for DS and value any personal recommendations. Thanks.

Re: Tutor In Trafford or South Manchester areas please
Hi, Cherryblossom and welcome to the forum.
May I remind anyone with any tutoring recommendations to use the PM system.
Re general advice - it pays to have a look at the AGSB and SGS websites in relation to the criteria both schools use to determine how places are awarded. Both schools have a priority catchment area (which for AGSB is much smaller than for SGS) within which your son would only need to pass the relevant exam to qualify for a place. If you live outside these areas then both schools operate a highest score criteria for filling all remaining places once catchment passers have been accommodated.
Let us know if you have any further questions.

The Trafford forum is (usually) quite slow compared to other areas on this website. However, I am sure that with March 1st just a couple of days away (which is the day when Y6 parents around the country receive the allocations of secondary school places for their children) there will be more traffic and you should get a few responses.

Any recommendations for tutors? Please pm me. Thanks. Hope you all had good news.
Just to add our usual caution. Genuine recommendations by PM only (private message) are acceptable - but beware of the possibility that someone who appears to be offering a recommendation may in reality be engaged in self-promotion! Please let us know if you think anyone is abusing the system by soliciting for business or 'spamming'. (You can click on the 'report button' - the red exclamation mark.)
Always treat recommendations from unknown persons with caution. However, there are many long standing members (check the date of joining and number of posts) who make a valuable contribution to the forum. If you receive a recommendation from one of them, it could be worth considering seriously (while still exercising a degree of caution).
If you receive a recommendation from anyone else, please exercise extreme caution!
