Hi
Can someone help me with this query? DS has scored above the pass mark for AGSB and we live within area. I presumed he would definitely get in but friends are saying it's not definite until 1st March. Due to there being such a high pass rate boys who have passed from in area may not get in- is this true?

Yes, dont worry your son will get in AGSB.

Priority is for boys in catchment, so if a catchment boy passes the test then he is higher than anyone out-side even with higher score.

But how many boys had passed in the area? There are some statistics on aggs thread but none regarding boy passes. How can we find out how many had passed this year and if the number is significantly higher?

Ask the school they will be able to advise how many passed overall and may even breakdown to within catchment/ out of catchment. It is their duty to advise as much as possible to allow people to complete their CAF forms in an informed way.

CarpeDeim-you are right that school should provide breakdown by catchment. But Hmmmm... I also asked AGGS, having the belief that they will provide the stats, the same question and they said it will take time to get the statistics so not provided the answer.....

Having said that always worth trying. So why not?

AGSB catchment area is TINY. It's unheard of for in catchment children not to get in.
Usually the intake includes one third of boys from out of catchment.

There is nothing to indicate more boys passed this year than any other.

Thanks for the information- it just seemed like there were more passes but it's probably just because a lot of my friends boys have passed!!
