Does anyone know how far the out of catchment area reaches for UGS? I notice UGS and St Ambrose is on the same day- am undecided which one to put DS in for?

Both are likely to have alternative dates- there will be lots doing both. This happens most years with one school or another.

When my DS sat his exams last year, we looked at all the GS in Trafford did quite a bit of research about every school ( read ofsted reports, reviews, spoke to parents with children in the school via this wonderful forum). Also considered what we want for our child and what will be best for him in the long run and then chose the schools he would sit for.If you are torn between 2 schools compare ( make notes), look at the over subscription criteria and check which one you have a realistic chance of getting in and then apply for it. It was the same last year both these schools had the exams on the same day, so we dropped UGS and didn't apply for it but went with St.A as we felt it was the right choice for us as a family. Good luck :D
