Innovative school transport solution?!

Bit of a long shot but I was wondering if there might be people with experience of primary school aged children at schools in different directions or other challenging situations on here.
Basically DD (9 now, poss very nearly 10 to start in yr5) could go to a school in central Manchester but we can't think of a way to get her there the couple of days a week that one of us isn't available. We live between Firswood and Old Trafford tram stops (so close to each) and the school is on the doorstep of the tram stop at the other end but frustratingly, this doesn't really help at this age. So I just wanted to check that there wasn't some kind of chaperoning service or private school bus that I didn't know about before we discount it.
What I really need is a reliable older teen who could watch the younger ones eat breakfast before they went to college themselves as the potential new school actually starts so early the dropping off adult could be back in time for the school run!
