Trafford primary schools and 11 plus success rates?

As previous posters have said no states primary preps for 11+ but my son's school in Trafford ( as with some others) offers familiarisation classes for part of Year 5 which they do in the morning once a week before school starts. They point out that this alone does not prepare them for the exam but is extra practice in addition to other tutoring they may receive.

Our Trafford primary did well this year and last but totally depends on the Y6 group. In other years, only one or two have passed. There are 'reasoning' classes run by the head that kids could go to in the lunchtime but it's certainly not included in the day to day lessons although numeracy and literacy are needed. In my kids year, 9 boys out of 13 and 3 girls out of 13 passed one or more of the 11+ exams - nearly all had tutors though which I think is necessary for the VR, NVR and exam techniques and familiarisation.
