Sale Exam - How Did It Go?

Post by Brainfreeze »

Just got back from dropping DS off. Queues were very long but very efficient and organised like AGSB on Saturday.

DS quite calm.

Looking forward to obsessing over your comments once we pick them up!

Good luck everyone.

Hi,
My DD and her friend were quite happy and told exam was easy.
Finished all in time. Told few questions were hard so had to guess but in general wasn`t hard. maths was easier than BOND books.

Any other reviews?

Can I add a polite reminder not to discuss actual content of exam? in case there are late sitters.

Mixed emotions here.

My DS thought the paper was a lot easier than AGSB, but he ran out of time in NVR and in Maths.

Anybody knows why they made it easier this year?

AGGS exactly wanted to make it more complicated as i heard.

Now thats funny. My DS thought the AGSB was easier compared to Sale ... especially the maths. He did manage to finish but said he guessed quite a few.

I think some children will say the AGSB format was easier (apart from last 10 questions in Maths) because they were prepared.

Sale Grammar was going into the unknown and although the questions were easier they were testing different skills to Alty, speed and adaptability to the new format being two.

Anyway, the pass marks will probably be a lot higher if everyone is finding it "easy" and it will work out in the end. It will be interesting to see if this new format really does capture the best students.

though glad it's over, I'm as confused if not more especially because the pass mark will be higher. Does it mean it'll harder to get the qual. mark, if yes then how does it make it easier... roll on october
by the way, dd didn't particulary find it easy (nvr, maths).

Interesting range of verdicts from DCs.

The two exams are very different so I guess it depends on where your preferences lie depending on the English element of the CEM exam. DS is more maths and logic oriented so would normally be more suited to the GL Ass style of AGSB, but he seemed more positive about Sale.

It probably helped that Sale was his second experience etc.

This waiting business is going to be a real trial. I'm very not patient. Would totally fail those 'deferred gratification' tests they do on little kids. I'm off to try to work out when to expect AGSB results...
