I am going to be looking for a year 9 school place for my year 8 child. I need someone who can give me a good idea of where she is at in terms of the national curriculum and whether it’s worth attempting grammar school exams and appeals. I’d also like to have some idea of whether she would be in top sets in a big comp as that’d maybe mean different decisions about where we apply I think.

Do you mean you would like her school work to be assessed? the school should be able to provide info about this.

Edited to add: Just realised my title was cut off...was meant to say 'for in-year assessment'.
Thank you for replying. Unfortunately, the current school operates a restricted curriculum outside of the national curriculum and I have my doubts about their ability to advise on this. I am looking for the sort of assessment that my middle daughter had to asssess suitability for the 11+, like a written test that a school might do to set pupils?
