In year transfer for year 8

Does anyone have any idea if there is any chance to get a place after passing the in year transfer exam for AGSB.My son did not pass his 11+ exam ,so thinking if that is a possibility?
After passing ,is the offer made on marks basis or school distance?

pages 6 and 7 explain the process - the candidates are placed into categories and then ranked by score and then if there is a tie on scores, distance is used

What I don't know is how many places they ever have available in any one year
