Is it possible to find out how many passes for AGSG and how that compares with previous years?

For AGGS, 2019 entry:

1393 sat exam
373 achieved qualifying score
208 places in catchment offered
9 places out of catchment offered
21 appeals
2 successful appeals

The number of passes is fairly consistent - for entry in 2014 (333), 2015 (337), 2016 (345), 2017 (351), 2018 (371).

The thing that changes is whether they take a 7th class - so the stated PAN (which is around 180 so 6 classes of about 30) but they have taken a 7th class some years. Looks like 2014, 2015, 2016 all had 7 classes - 205/206 girls in Yr 7, 2017 had 6 classes (180 girls in Yr 7).

From Poppety's post, it looks like 2019 entry was 7 classes too.

In addition, the admission policy for 2020 entry has changed in lowering the pass mark for Pupil Premium pupils (to 324) so remains to be seen whether that has much impact on distances / allocations.

It looks like they cannot predict how may girls will accept the offer. Some girls may go to independent schools or choose another school as their first preference.
Therefore, they always offer more places than they have. Some years, a high proportion of girls with an offer go to other schools and they end up with 6 classes. If too many girls choose AGGS as their first preference, they will end up with 7 classes.
My guess is that their target is 6 classes, as this may be more cost efficient.

I don't know about that, I think they know how many classes they plan to offer before they send out offers. There will be some girls who turn down a place in favour of an independent school, but not many, and everyone will already have made their choice for state school before the offers are sent out. I think they offer the number of places they have (or very close to that number) and then if an unexpected number of people turn down a place, they then make further offers until they're full.

I agree. They must know as they have to plan no of teachers around PAN.
State school budgets are too tight.
