School application/offers 2020

Post by payel123 »

Hi

Since this year is very different for applications given that we won’t be having the results before deadline ,I had a few queries in mind.

Assuming ,a child eventually passes both AGSB and Sale (a much coveted circumstance for most I believe ✌️)and they had put them both down as their 1st and 2nd preference ,shall we have offers from both schools?i think this is quite relevant as one could change their decisions after the results basis various factors(friends etc)

In contrast to a normal year ,where if a child cracks all the tests ,one can sit and deliberate and decide on a school I think this year is particularly difficult in terms of decision making.

Your thoughts please
Thanks

You would only get a place at the highest school on your list for which you qualify - if you don't get your top school you may be offered your second, however if you are eligible for a place at your 1st and 2nd schools then you will only be offered a place at the first.

occasionally people do change their mind and ask to be put on a waiting list for a school lower on the list after national allocation day, however getting a place is not guaranteed.

It is difficult - however suspect there is one that is preferred over the other, whether it is location / travel logistics / sports facilities etc etc. Also is one of them traditionally "harder to get in"? If so putting that second would be relatively pointless.

All things being equal may just have to go for one and see what happens,

I think I read that AGSB are going to try to get results back before the school applications form has to filled in. (Can’t be 100% sure though)

It will be difficult if one (or a few) schools get them back - can imagine it might make the decisions even harder for some

AGSB exam is on the 10th Oct, so perhaps there might be enough time to get the results back before the 31st, as it's only one school?

The trafford consortium CEM exam is on the 19th Oct, and my DD is sitting it and we've been told mid to late Nov for results.

I wonder how it will effect the submissions/offers process if some can have their results back and can make a more informed choice.

I have found the email sent from AGSB and it does say they will have the results back before we fill in the school application form.

Unfortunately this is the only school that will have the results back before the forms have to be filled in!
