2022 Trafford Schools - Good books

Post by ManYou »

Seasons Greetings Everyone

I am back - 5 years or so later and we still haven’t replaced Fergie!

Getting ready for my youngest to attempt
the 11+. I’ve been a bit lazy and not paid much attention
to my son’s preparation. Time to pull the socks up
and looking for tips on good books for CEM comprehension
and Maths.

What else has changed in 5 years? Only 1 entrance exam for all the
schools

CGP books are best imo

DS said the Collins books were most similar to the 2121 CEM exam. We found the CGP 10 minute tests very good as well. The exam has many short sections, and some new sections, so I would look for new books since the CEM has changed hands from Durham to Cambridge owned.

Valid advice from TinyTroll.
It's important your child is not shaken by a new section or two in the exam. For this tell from start to be ready for it. Look at a variety of CEM style books not just CGP, but do include CGP. DD did well in Trafford CEM 2021 qualifying for all & just been offered a place at AGGS. All the work will be worth it. Don't pressurise your child at any time during the prep & stay calm:)
