Advice from "experts"!!(ie last years lot)

Post by Pensby »

Hiya
Just wondering how to approach last 2 months,my son has been doing the Tutors cd's and been getting 93-98% and has also got the same score on the Tutors papers.

We have a few more Tutors papers to do and the NFER papers ,do you think one paper a week is enough(don't want him to get bored of the whole thing) bearing in mind his consistant scores?

Does it matter if he repeats papers /cd papers if he keeps getting this score?

If he is Grammar school material ,which hopefully these scores show, then would any more practice be of any benefit?

any tips /advice would be great !

Thanks Pensby

If he's getting consistent scores like this and he's happy and confident and good at dealing with the timing issues, then I'd leave it at that. Maybe do a few more just before the test to get his eye in again!

I would disagree and say you need to crank up the papers and tests.

1 a week is not enough...

last year I created a timetable starting 1st October all the way through to the tests.

And on it each night she would do something (not a paper) but something from the exam.

EG

1st October 20 Questions on TYPE N
2nd October 20 QUESTIONS TYPE I
3rd October Day off due to school play
4th October Tutors paper 1
5th October 5 type H questions...

etc etc..

Each night may only take 15 minutes or 30 minutes but she did something.. After tea *then she could relax and do what she wanted.

she didn't get much homework so this was the homework.

if she failed then at least I could say she put in the effort..
