Hello
I think I need some advice on that 11+ malarchy. I never thought it would be so competitive and confusing.
Currently, I have my daughter tutored one hour per week, but every body I know seems to be pushing for extra hours as well. Is that necessary?
What would you think is needed for tuition in terms of hours?
We do do some extra practise at home, and she seems to have no difficulties completing those tests?

If yes (extra hours are needed), can you recommend a tutor via pm as per forum rules, yes I have taken time to read them :0) ) because the one we are currently using is too full for extras... (also wouldn't it be confusing to have 2 tutors teaching her...)
Please help!
Best regards
Phae.

you need extra hours maybe (depending on how your daughter is doing) but not necessarily extra tuition.

So if you are doing the extra hours with her & she is fine, then don't worry. If not just put in the extra work yourself rather than having 2 tutors which might lead to headaches.

My DCs had an 11 plus tutor, for 1 hour per week from 12 months before the date of the 11 plus, backed up with some extra practice sheets at home nearing the time (approx 3 months before). It all depends on how they are scoring on the papers though and how close it is to the test. I found scores really shot up approx 8 weeks before the test, and we would get them to do 2 practice papers per week on top. Had they been scoring low marks 2 months beforehand I would have considered a tutor, but once they know the trick of how to answer the questions, it's just practice really, and I don't see a tutor as much value from then on. I found it was about practising and getting the speed right. :)
