Re: 1st MARCH 2022 ALLOCATIONS Discussion Thread…
My Daughter was not successful so disappointing. We live in North Wales - any other Mum/Dads/Guardians out there get in from North Wales please?
Congrats to all of you celebrating wonderful news

@Northwalesmum - Call the schools you were hoping your daughter went to, speak to their admissions officer as they’re really helpful and will give you guidance. Also speak to both the Wirral Council and North Wales Council for your daughter to be put on the waiting lists. Not everyone takes up their allocation so stay strong

I am sorry to hear that NorthWalesMum.
What school were you hoping for?
Yes definitely call the school and ask to be put on waiting list.
Would you consider appealing? x

Awww thanks all.
It was WKGS as there’s a North Wales bus service.
Yes, I’m on the waiting list and we’re going to appeal.
She got 93% in the 11plus but it goes on distance.
Thems are breaks

That's a shame NorthWalesMum keeping my fingers gers crossed for you - I know when my son started at Wirral Grammar there were quite a few boys who didn't take up their places so don't give up hope yet.
My daughter got her first choice of West Kirby and shes really excited.

Congrats to all those who got their chosen preference
NorthWalesMum - really sorry to hear and fully empathise with your disappointment. I am in the same boat as my daughter did not get offered a place at West Kirby Grammar. This has been compounded by the fact that her twin brother was offered a place yesterday at Caldy! What I do know is:
- there was a particularly high number of girls who passed the 11+ last year which is why it has gone to distance
this year for West Kirby which I understand is normally undersubscribed.
- the home to school distance for the furthest allocated girl for West Kirby was 15.6 miles (we missed out by 0.4 mile). This was confirmed to me yesterday by Wirral Admissions.
So depending on where exactly you live, there is the chance that through some inevitable movement following reallocations, that you may be offered a place by being on a waiting list. Wirral Admissions have advised me that reallocations will happen after mid April. I think an appeal is only worth while if there is a strong case and not just distance.
Hope this is of some help and fingers crossed

That's interesting, thanks for sharing. Did you happen to ask about cut-off distance for Wirral Grammar for Girls? We are 12.1 miles away, and ended up going for Blue Coat but curious as to whether we'd have got WG.

Thanks so much for that. Very helpful. I have requested the pass rate and furthest distance data, but we are way out. I just can’t believe how oversubscribed it is this year.
I’ll appeal but it’s very unlikely.
Good luck, I’m sure you’ll be successful at appeal
