Teaching GL Verbal Reasoning

Post by anansiathespider »

Hello,

I'm new to this and have ploughed through the forum and got completely confused about which books will be best for my ds to learn VR!

We've worked through the Bond CEM ones, but the school that he is sitting for (Latymer) is switching to GL assessment this year.

Do I need to get some additional resources? I'm guessing that if the GL assessment is multiple choice, there will be differences, but would anyone be kind enough to point me in the right direction please?

TIA

You need to be working with GL VR MC papers.

Other options would be Athey, The Tutors, WALSH and First past the Post. Most available from the forum shop next day delivery. DG

Your thanks are appreciated. They are quite thin on the ground! We are all in new territory here with Latymer abandoning CEM and moving to GL Time gallops on and it is less than six months now until Saturday 15th July. DG

Hoping to sit Latymer GL exam this July. DC is doing Bond 10-11+ verbal reasoning papers (40 min scoring around 90%). Do we carry on with these? Is there a better way of preparing?

Bond are too easy. How many questions is there for 40 minutes?

I would be doing harder papers and shaving off minutes. If he is getting 90% then they are clearly not challenging enough. DG

Thank you, I thought Bond were more challenging! Around 80 questions per paper. Which do you recommend for GL exam?

Thanks KC,

I suggest doing 100 in 40 minutes and using harder material.

Bond is not suitable for super selectives. DG
