hi everyone, hope you can help, i'm very new in 11 plus preparation and not very good in math, although this question is in the verbal reasoning paper, i have the answer but not know how to make my daugther understand it, without complicating things.please help.

Jill is three quaters the age of Keith. Jill is 9, how old is Keith?

I dont know if this is the best way of explaining, but I would tell my daughter to do this :

three quarters is 9.
this means one quarter is 3.
When you know, quarter is 3, the whole (or Keith'sage in this case ) must be 4 times 3 and hence the answer must be 12.
