Can anyone answer this one please ....

Find the number that continues the sequence.

11,19,12,17,14,14,17

Answer options are : 8,10,12,14,17

Correct answer is 10 - but I cannot see why!!??

I'm sure it's really obvious but can anyone help?

Thanks :?

2 alternating sequences

11, 12, 14, 17 = +1, +2, +3

and

19 17, 14 = -2, -3 so next would be -4 ie 10

next figures are 10 would be 21, 5

whenever you get quite a long sequence, consider that it is two different runs of numbers, alternating, like here.

:D there are two sequences here.
sequence one :

11,-----, 12,-----,14,-------,17,( add 1, add2, add 3, add 4)
sequence two

-------, 19, ------, 17,-----,14,------, { ? ] (minus 2,minus 3, and than the answer minus 4)
hope that helps
