Standard format VR

I've just read that standard format VR has different question types, and possibly a different number of questions.

Can anyone confirm/deny(!) this? One of our tests will be multiple choice, and if dd passes the first round of Latymer she will sit a standard test. All our practice papers are multiple choice as I thought that they were the same questions in different format.

Most of the papers are the same for Standard and multiple choice but there are some questions from standard papers that cannot be reduced to multiple choice so some papers are very slightly different but certainly not enough to justify buying double packs. I certainly do not think there are different types for different styles of papers.

Sorry if I've misunderstood you, but is it not the case that Latymer will not be doing VR this year?

You are entirely correct, NLM. From the Latymer website:
Parents of those children going on to do the Literacy and Maths Tests will be advised of the test time and further details. Parents of children whose scores fall below the required level on the NVR Test will be informed that their application is unsuccessful and of their right to appeal.
There is no VR test for Latymer this year, so you should not be preparing your DD for VR, 2Girlsmum.

Sorry - the tests are getting to me:) We need VR for St Michael's but it's multiple choice which we have, and the Latymer literacy paper based on the sample has very little in the way of grammar questions- it's main focus is a comprehension and composition (dd's weakest subjects). Thanks for the replies everyone:)
