best word that completes the sentence

Hi came across this question in practice papers, and I checked answer and I can't understand why that was best poss answer? this is question, I just wondered if it was just us and can't see it or is answer wrong??

Find the 2 words, 1 from each group that will complete sentence in best way

Stitch is to

(Sew, needle, cloth)

as stroke is to

(pat,paint, cat)

I would have said sew and paint. What was the answer given?

You got correct answer!! I still am confused as you can sew a stitch but wasnt' sure about stroke and paint?? is it paint a stroke??

I think it is that "to stitch" is the action when sewing something and "to stroke" is the action when painting something. Sorry am illiterate scientist and not very good at explaining words :oops:

I would have thought it was the other way around-you stroke in order to paint.Both sewing and stroking also result in something being made/created.That's my take on it! :lol:
