Dear Ken

We were posting at the same time!

Yes it can be 'classed' as one of the 3 symmetry methods....[see my post above]

Thanks all for the answers!

If I understood correctly, AB can be also considered as a correct answer in a standard test. Is that right?

I was advising my daughter to do always the normal way (no symmetry at all) in a standard test. I was thinking that the symmetry is used only in multiple choice tests since the first step is always the standard way and the symmetry is considered only if the standard way answer is not among the choices.

It now seems even more confusing :?

Dear Dad5

Your original post stated that the answer was WX on the standard format. So, no AB would not be considered as the correct answer.

As a rule of thumb, always use the standard method, but if your child can 'see' a symmetry formation as AB is to YZ then I would recommend using it.
