Surely such questions do not come up in 11+ exams, do they?

Most papers, especially those from the likes of GL Assessment and Durham CEM will be extensively trialled before use to iron out this sort of ambiguity. It is more of a worry when the papers are written by individual schools, but one would hope that even then several teachers would be involved in checking them.
