Hello,
A school I've been looking at says on its website that it's VR papers are written by NFER. Is this the same NFER that is now GL? I know, at least, I think, that NFER split into different companies, so wasn't sure if this school's 'NFER' VR paper should now be called 'GL' VR paper, or whether it was from a different part of NFER, that now does research and in-school testing at primary schools?

Any clarification would be extremely helpful

Yes, the papers that were NFER are now GL.

NFER is National foundation for education Research which makes paper for 11+ entrance tests (which split with G)L. Now GL has it's own papers 5-8. GL Assessment is a leading independent supplier of learning materials.
