Points per question types

Ive been working with my DS for this sept exam. He is getting about 80% on the IPS tests we are doing but takes about 40 mins - Ive read back on prev threads and I read that this is ok and not to worry as they rarely take 30 mins to start with. The problem I have is that he gets hung up on each question and Im wondering is the "problem solving" type questions take obviously longer so is it worth leaving them to the end and guessing if you are on your last mins - Are all questions worth the same points (eg 1 point per question) If so it would seem logical to do this and leave these til the end

All questions are worth the same so leave the 'type z' ones where Fred is 2 years older than George but Ron like football etc to the end.

Oh thanks so much. I was very worried a few days ago as I have almost similar result (78 % within 40 mins) and the question of 'How good is that?' was trotting in my mind, but thanks to your advise I should not be too worried and instead encourage my dear DD to carry on with her practice. I am tutoring her myself you see, means I panic every minute as she's a first timer in the family........ooooh the stress.

Thanks all

Honestly Patricia,

I am so glad you picked my note,
well to be less stressed, with my DD's choice and a great friend's advice, we have chosen Wallington Girls and most probably try for scholarship at Old Palace of John Whitgift School , being in Croydon I think that is some of the best choice I could have as Non such is much too far. Any ideas are very very much welcome

Hi 3HMum,

Is Nonsuch really too far away for your DD? My DD has friends at Nonsuch who live in Croydon. Atleast one of them found it would be quicker and easier for her to get to Cheam by train than it would be to get the bus back to Wallington Girls. Alternatively the X26 is a pretty good and quick bus straight into Cheam (though it does only run every half hour).

It's a great school ( well we think so anyway :D ) and I'm sure you've considered the journey implications, but I thought I'd flag that up just in case :D
